Manage Allocation Strategy
Manage Allocation strategy is a part of Warehouse management system which tells which bins or zones are applicable for the inventory allocation against the order and what is the priority of each bin.
Allocation Strategy is used to set the allocation rules while processing the order. It can be set in 2 ways.
1-On the basis of zones- User can set zone as priority in for order allocation
2- Based on inventory- User can set inventory as priority like choosing bin(s) for order allocation where inventory is less as compared to the other bins.

Following screen will appear, click on ADD NEW
User can fill the details accordingly.
Field Name | Description |
Strategy ID | This strategy ID will be generated by system. |
Override LIFO/FIFO checkbox | If this is checked then Allocation Strategy Procedure rule will execute first. |
Location | This is location specific rule. |
Strategy Name | This strategy name given by the user. |
Override Shelf life checkbox | If this is checked then SKU Master shelf-life validation would not apply. |
Remark | Optional field |
Status | If status is Confirmed then this rule will execute, and it will not execute if it is in Pending status. |
For every store and Warehouse, separate strategy can be created as per the user’s requirements.
In the second section, warehouse details are mentioned. These all are mandatory fields to be entered by user for warehouse.
Fields | Description |
UOM | It could be set on the basis of unit of measure |
Bin location type | User can set strategy on the basis of Bin, that means user can set bin here for allocation. This location is set at the time of bin create/edit screen. This would only be relevant once case pack functionality is live for Outbound. |
Zone | Zone could be selected as per the need from drop down. These zones are setup earlier by the user in Zone setup screen.

Inventory Bucket | Inventory bucket can be select form the drop down |
Sort Rule | For sort rule, user can set the priority from the drop down regarding with inventory like for exact fit, the exact inventory will be selected while picking, similarly for low to high-highest inventory present in bins to lowest inventory present in bins and vice versa for high to low.

Priority | Priority cab be define from here in order to run this allocation strategy, this sequence mapping comes from Bin create/edit screen. |
Action Button
Action Button | Description |
Site Location | Site location is the location or warehouse where the bin needs to get created. |
BIN Code | User need to give any specific code for the bin that is going to be created. |
BIN Type | Bin type tells that in what category that bin needs to be get created. The values comes in drop down are hardcoded. |
BIN Flag | BIN Flag usually tells about the status of the bin. The values in this drop down is also hardcoded. |
Is Active | As per need, user can mark any bin active or in active |
BIN Bucket | Bin bucket usually used to segregate product in the basis of its criteria like saleable items stored in good bucket, defect items stored in bad and so on. The option in this drop down is hardcoded. |
Zone | User will be choosing the “zone” from the drop list showing the already created zones for the Bins. Bins are linked with the zones while user creates them. With this field, user can filter the bins by selecting a zone. |
Aisle | Aisle is a passage between the rows of bin created in the Bin. The aisle can be given a name so that bins can easily be located in warehouse on the basis of aisle. |
Sequence No. | Field is given to add sequence number for reference |
Bin location Type | Basis on the storage location, Bin location can be selected as a palette, case, casepack, piece or regular etc. This would be relevant once casepack allocation and picking features are live. This field can be customized basis user requirements. The options showing in dropdown are hardcoded |
Now after setting the allocation strategy, user need to create Allocation rule in OMS rule section.
Navigation: Sales> OMS Rules> Go to Allocation Rule
Click on this setting button to create new allocation rule.
Select order type than equals to and then select option from drop down
So multiple conditions can be set while creating allocation rules based on different warehouse.
OMS rule basically chooses which allocation strategy needs to apply for the order, based on these conditions for each order.
The allocation strategy defines how inventory should be prioritize for allocation within the Warehouse, which area, zone, bins etc.
So, Allocation rule defines for any order, which strategy should work among the strategies created in the allocation strategy.
