Overview

An order management system (OMS) facilitates and manages the complete order lifecycle from Order Placement to Order Delivery. (For detailed information on Order lifecycle, please refer Order lifecycle Document). Brands use order management systems to manage orders from multiple channels more efficiently and seamlessly.

Vin eRetail OMS Module supports end to end order journey. Some of the Core features of Vin eRetail OMS are listed below:

  • Managing Global Inventory
  • Order Capture and Validation
  • Order Routing
  • Order Shipment and Tracking
  • Dropshipping
  • Omnichannel
  • Logistics
  • Returns

Brands generally have various order orchestration strategies that they want to automate. For example, when order comes for a particular SKU/quantity, the seller may want to prioritize it as “High priority order” OR if the order comes from South India Region, seller may want to fulfil the order from his Chennai warehouse or may be if seller wants to decide on the Transporter partner based on customer pin code.

In such cases, user can define the order validation rule, order routing rule and shipping rule in the system respectively using ’OMS Rules’ module. Once the rules are defined, system would process the orders following the logic placed by the seller.

We will discuss each functionality offered by the vin-eRetail in OMS one by one.

Global Inventory: Global inventory provides a single comprehensive view of all your inventory information by aggregating inventory from your internal and external locations. It allocates and confirms inventory availability in real-time. Vin eRetail is connected with 100+ Marketplaces and Webshops to keep the sales channels updated with the current inventory.

Order Capture: Order capture refers to the data that must be captured for fulfilling an order in a store. The order capture process includes order creation and order validation.

Order can be placed by any means either order is placed from webstore, marketplaces, or any other channels. Whenever an order is placed then order gets validated and automatic actions gets applied to the order as per the order validation rules.

Order Routing: Order Routing refers to the route an order to an optimal warehouse in terms of nearest location, maximum inventory, lowest delivery cost, city, region, priority etc.

The aim of this system is the transparency of the distribution process.

Omnichannel: Omnichannel is a multichannel approach to sales that focus on providing seamless customer experience whether the client is shopping online from a mobile device, a laptop or in a brick-and-mortar store.

Return: Return refers to the process of a customer taking previously purchased item back to the retailer, and in turn receiving a refund in the original form of payment, exchange for another item (identical or different), or a store credit. System is integrated with sales channels to raise and process return requests.

Forward Logistics: The eRetail system is integrated with all leading logistics partners; the seller can assign the pickup from warehouses/stores and track the order till the last mile delivery.
