How to update buffer inventory?
What is buffer quantity?
The inventory buffer is a user-defined value that subtracts the additional quantity of an item from the original quantity to calculate the estimated quantity. This estimated quantity gives retailers a safe buffer so that they do not oversell a product by selling more than its actual on-hand inventory.
You can configure the inventory buffer at either the Channel level or the individual product level. If no inventory buffer is specified, the default value of 0 (zero) is used as Buffer.
Buffer quantity in Vin-eRetail is defined either at Channel level OR at SKU Channel level by using SKU Channel Listing Screen.
A. Updating Buffer Inventory at Channel Configuration Level
When the user configures a marketplace on Vin-eRetail, he is provided with an option of keeping Buffer stock for that marketplace. (Path: Sales> Manage Channel>Add new Channel> Select the Channel for which Buffer quantity needs to be updated>Channel Maintenance Screen)
1. Inventory Sync: User will have to choose the option of “Yes” or “No” from the dropdown box if he wants to enable or disable the “inventory sync” respectively.
2. Sync Method: If the User selects “Yes” for Inventory Sync, then he can choose to Sync “All” inventory (All means that the inventory of all locations will be pushed to that channel) or he can customize by choosing “Custom” (Using custom option user can select the dedicated location for inventory sync against that channel) from the “Sync method” dropdown box.
B. Updating Buffer Inventory at SKU level
With the help of SKU Channel link screen, the user can update the Buffer Inventory at SKU level. (Path: Sales> SKU Channel Listing>SKU Channel Import)
Go to “Sales >SKU Channel Listing.”
Go to the second tab, “SKU Channel/Link Import” and download the template.
This Excel template provides an option to the user to update the buffer quantity at an SKU level. Channel Code, E-Retail SKU Code, Channel SKU ID, Status (Active/Inactive) and mode are the mandatory fields. These details of these should be entered correctly to enable the feature.
Mode
After updating the buffer quantity for a SKU, select “Update Buffer Stock” in from the “Mode”dropdown list.
Important Note: Do not change the pattern/format of the template. Max 5000 rows can be imported in an attempt of Import.
After entering the required details, User can save the file on the computer and give the path of file through “Choose File” tab and upload it.
